The Bakersfield ASSP Chapter is once again hosting a safety poster contest for kids – Safe Kids Safe Future. Kids from three different age groups are eligible to submit with a chance to win an art basket to continue exploring their creativity over the summer break. Details in the newsletter.
The meeting will feature Dan Hopwood, CSP, SMP, CPCU, ARM, FASSP, the President of the Board of Certified Safety Professionals for 2026. Mr. Hopwood will be presenting on Disruption in Safety – A Critical Dimension to Our Success. Though being disruptive is often considered in a negative light, there is a positive side to being a disruptor, or being disruptive. In fact, thinking in terms of disruption is more essential now than ever for safety professionals.
June 3, 2026 – Chapter Meeting
The meeting featured James Boretti, President & CEO of Boretti, Inc. Mr. Boretti is presenting on Influencing to get buy-in from the C-Suite Safety. Safety professionals often struggle with the perception of safety as a “cost center” rather than a driver of business value. To gain executive buy-in, you must bridge the communication gap between technical safety requirements and the strategic priorities of the C-Suite.
Bakersfield Chapter WISE Group
WISE (Women in Safety Excellence) is conducting its annual Heat Illness Prevention Initiative to reach out to street vendors and other outdoor workers to protect themselves against the heat. Consider donating cases of water, electrolyte packets, sunscreen, lip balm, fans, or wide-brimmed hats.
This month, we welcome four new members, celebrate two individuals for their professional development, and congratulate six members on new job opportunities.
