Rescue Technician / EMT

Location Bakersfield, Ca  & Ventura, Ca areas. Most of the work will be done out of the corporate office in Bakersfield, Ca.

Job duties are as such but not limited to:

  • Must have technical knowledge in High Angle and Low Angle Rope Rescue systems
  • Rope access training a plus
  • California Fire Marshal approved or equivalent course in confined space rescue awareness and low angle rescue operational training.
  • The qualified candidate for this position must have knowledge in NFPA 1006 rescue standards and NIOSH respiratory protection standards.
  • The candidate for this position will perform daily ,weekly, monthly inspections on all rescue equipment. Ropes , Pulleys, Medical gear, Gas Detection, Supplied Air, Ventilation and Rope Logs.
  • Maintain monthly Rescue inventory on gear bags, rescue helmets, knee pads, rescue harness & fall protection
  • Collaborate with rescue supervisor to implement the development of confined space rescue paperwork. JSA, JSP, Pre job and CSE.
  • Develop and build rescue pulley systems for High and Low Angle Confined Space Rescue.
  • Conduct daily tailgate safety meetings and review rescue pre plan with job site personnel.
  • Oversee site safety and conduct medical evaluations when required.
  • Emergency Medical Technician, California and Nationwide certification required.

Required Training

  • Confined Space Entrant and Attendant (Minimum)
  • Confined Space Rescue experience is a plus but is not required. We will train the right person
  • High and Low Angle Rope Rescue Experience a plus

General Responsibilities for HES Field Supervisor

  • Observe and audit safe work practices, and present opportunities for improvement. Mentor employees and encourage their safe work practices; encourage hazard inspections throughout the location.
  • Act as a direct link to Field Operations to assist in achieving and maintaining HES compliance.
  • Provide day to day direct support and hands on assistance to drivers to implement compliance and training.
  • Responsible for implementing the full scope of company HES compliance programs, process and procedures from personnel training, gap assessments, audits, inspections, and observations.
  • Assist in the delivery of training and instruction for all procedures, rules and regulations in all phases of compliance.
  • Conduct routine inspections on truck and trailers such as cargo management, personal protective equipment (PPE), fire-fighting equipment, etc.
  • Collect, record, analyze, and evaluate accident or near miss data to determine root and contributing causes of an incident.
  • Represents company safety culture in all things and enforce policies to establish a culture of safety compliance.
  • Performs routine Field Audits with employees across all work groups as assigned on a monthly basis.
  • Attend weekly tailgate safety meetings, and additional HES meetings in order to convey information that may affect personnel, equipment, and/or job duties.
  • Leads safety training initiatives, safety education programs as needed including new hire safety training, biweekly safety meetings and all coaching opportunities presented.
  • Assists in investigations of accidents, incidents, and near misses to identify causes and to determine preventative steps in avoiding similar future incidents.
  • Maintain thorough understanding of pertinent codes, governing regulations, and industry practices related to environmental, health, and safety standards.
  • Work as directed by the HES Director for compliance assurance.
