Topic: An Overview of the new Silica Standard and Rules
Speaker: Raul Guzman, Director OSHA Training Institute Educations Center (OTIEC)
Mr. Guzman has over 25 years of experience in the Construction Industry in various capacities such as: journeyman carpenter, superintendent, project manager and safety manager. In his current capacity, he oversees curriculum development for approximately 80 occupational safety and health courses and 5 certificate programs. As program director he oversees OSHA’s Outreach Training Program in Region IX which includes: Arizona, California, Nevada, Hawaii, Guam and Samoa Islands. Mr. Guzman has oversight of over 1000 authorized OSHA trainers who deliver 10 and 30 Hour OSHA training to approximately 15,000 workers. These responsibilities include audits, observations, monitoring activities and investigations. He’s served in the capacity of OTIEC Director for the past 5 years and serves as chair of OSHA Training Institute Education Center Curriculum Committee. He is passionate about worker’s rights and employer’s responsibility.
