Topic Incident Investigation: Best Practices, Tips & Tricks
This session will provide an overview of the important elements when conducting an accident/incident investigation.
The material addressed will include Duty to report serious accidents; Keeping the two (2) goals in mind throughout the
Investigation; Importance of timely investigations; Interviewing Witnesses; Gathering and securing evidence; Completing the accident report; “Do’s & Don’ts” Case study exercises will be included time permitting.
Speaker Wm. Todd Giurlani
Mr. Giurlani is a veteran safety consultant with 40 years’ experience, 30 of those years being the founder, and co-owner of Global Safety. He holds a degree in Fire Technology from Bakersfield College and many courses completed in Environmental Hazardous Materials Technology. Mr. Giurlani has acquired an impressive list of credentials related to health and safety over the years, some of which are, but not limited to: OSHA Construction outreach instructor, MSHA Part 48 instructor, Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist, an EMT, Ansul Fire School graduate, Crane Operator (Train-theTrainer), Scaffolds, and much more…. He has been a 3X guest speaker at the Bakersfield chapter, ASSP symposiums, 1x guest speaker at the Fresno chapter ASSP symposium, and a guest speaker at the International Mine Safety Society in Pittsburg, PA. His outstanding safety service oversees has earned him a Certificate of Achievement from the general contractor at the $6B, Ambatovy mining project in Madagascar. Todd has been investigating accidents throughout his entire career for clients in a variety of industries from near misses to fatality, as well as teaching Accident Investigation to many top-level management personnel
