SUMMARY:Bakersfield ASSP Chapter Meeting - November 2026
DESCRIPTION:Speaker: \n\nDivina Jover\nThe Wonderful Company\n\nDivina has over 11 years of experience in the citrus industry and currently serves as the EHS Senior Training Supervisor at Wonderful Citrus\, leading a team of two EHS trainers and supporting operations across Californian Operations\, Texas\, and New Jersey.\n\nTheir training approach is influenced by Human and Organizational Performance (HOP)\, focusing on learning from employees and understanding how work is actually done. Divina uses focus groups and employee feedback to develop practical\, real-world training solutions.\n\nJover holds a Certified Instructional Trainer (CIT) credential from BCSP and an Instructional Design certificate from ATD. They are passionate about building training programs that improve safety\, develop people\, and support continuous improvement.\n\nTopic: If They Ain't Learning\, You Ain't Training: A Learner-Centered Approach to EHS Training\n\nOverview:  Too often\, Environmental\, Health\, and Safety (EHS) training centers on regulatory checklists and content-heavy presentations. In this session\, we’ll explore how a learner-centered approach can transform EHS training programs from box-checking exercises into effective\, behavior-changing experiences. Attendees will be challenged to rethink their current training models by identifying real performance gaps and engaging learning teams to gather feedback directly from the employees who are  actually doing the work. This presentation will demonstrate how to shift the focus from what trainers want to teach to what employees truly need to learn. Participants will walk away with actionable strategies to improve engagement\, retention\, and on-the-job application\, ultimately making their training not only compliant\, but truly effective.\n\nSession Learning Objectives:\n\nBy the end of this session\, participants will be able to:\n\n Ask key questions to identify knowledge gaps and the objective of the training.\n Explore the use of learning teams in their respective training programs.\n Translate data gathered from the learning teams into a learner-centered training design.\n\n-------\nVirtual meeting options: Jan-April-July-October (1st month of each quarter) .\nRegistration:\n\nRSVP to membership@bakersfield.assp.org.\n\nIn Person Breakfast at Hodels from 7:00-8:45am. \n\n$20 per person – Cash/Check/Credit/Debit (Member or Guest)\n$10 ASSP Emeritus\n$5 ASSP Student Members\n\nWalk ins Welcome
